New from Segway - Introducing the C-80 E-moped
Introducing the Segway C80 moped style e-bike!
Ebikes Hawaii is proud to introduce a new product from Segway - the versatile C80 electric moped. With a max speed of about 20 mph (unlockable for higher speeds!!!!) and a range of up to 52 miles, there is no part of greater Honolulu you can’t explore. This eMoped is legally classified as an electric bicycle and that means there is no license or insurance required to operate it! Driving is easy and intuitive. It is also one of the only options we have seen so far that features cruise control.
Perfect for a newcomer to the world of electronic transportation, this approachable bike has the best of all worlds. The wide, padded seat is comfortable for long rides, and the bottom platform has pop-out pegs for added space to rest. The pedals, while functional, are behind the platform and out of the way. This makes mount and dismount a seamless transition. The amount of space you have on the platform offers additional maneuverability to squeeze through those tight corners. This bike does have suspension throughout which makes riding in Honolulu super smooth.
The C80 moped is started and turned on with an NFC keycard which means it’s more secure than a traditional keyed lock. This bike also features a proprietary anti-theft alarm system that does not just discourage theft, but actively locks the wheels and keeps your bike from moving. If that isn’t enough, the very loud alarm will alert passersby. Lastly, the bike is programmed to let you know if it is being tampered with by contacting you via the Segway app. We felt comfortable leaving the Segway locked while around the city and it is super simple to secure. We used a traditional bike lock alongside the alarm system just to be safe.
The bike itself is lightweight (especially compared to gas mopeds), produces no noise, and is compact enough to cruise around pretty much anywhere. Additionally, we found that this bike is very easy to take into a standard elevator, allowing you to store it where you want (Hello, high-rise life!!). The battery is removable, allowing you to charge it wherever you go. We found this very helpful because you can charge the battery while the bike itself is locked outside - this eliminates the need for a dedicated charging station. The alarm system becomes inactive when the battery is removed, but since we were also using a regular bike lock, we were still safe!
In conclusion, we found this bike option to be very effective and compatible with city life. The alarm system works well and the keyless system feels intuitive to operate. The large, built-in LED display is bright enough to read in all weather types and the built-in headlamp provided plenty of light for night riding. The downloadable Segway app is secure and makes interacting with your bike simple. It is super easy to ride on and it is a good option for people who are looking at gas-free modes of transportation. Come on down today for a test ride!
